Pumpkins; the fruit of the season (yes it’s a fruit.  Google it.)  Also the latest fruit to be clearly linked to a North American stereotype (see here: http://thoughtcatalog.com/lorenzo-jensen-iii/2014/10/50-tweets-about-white-girls-pumpkin-spice-lattes ) has begun rolling out onto store shelves and into massive orange fields across the North American countryside.  What you’d possibly be surprised to know is that most pumpkin spice products don’t actually contain any pumpkin.  That being said, do you actually know what pumpkin tastes like?  Only recently did international café chain Starbucks confirm the suspicion that there was no real pumpkin in their products when they released a statement saying that this would be the first year that it would be containing that seemingly vital ingredient.  This begs the question, what other fruit or vegetable flavored beverages and foods actually contain the foods they claim?  As more preservatives and artificial flavoring creep into our diets science shows it’s reflected in the health of the consumer.  Be smart about what you’re eating.  Check labels, do your research or better yet, GROW AT HOME.  J

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at growing society!
